About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on IT experience supporting two distinct organizations. As an IT Intern, you will assist with IT operations for Collars Inc. as well as our sister company, Crown Coverings (a leading commercial flooring and countertop contractor).

You will work in a dynamic environment, supporting a diverse user base across both a tech startup and a commercial construction business.

What You Will Learn

This internship is designed to be a comprehensive learning experience where you will get hands-on time with enterprise technology. You will gain exposure to:

  • Microsoft 365 Administration: Managing users, licenses, and productivity tools.
  • Device Management: Deploying and troubleshooting Windows PCs, Macs, and mobile devices (iOS/Android).
  • Networking: Understanding office network basics and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
  • Helpdesk Operations: Learning how to triage tickets, support users, and solve technical problems effectively.
  • IT Governance: assisting with IT audits, inventory tracking, and license management.

Additionally, as we grow both companies, you will participate in growing our IT processes and environments!

Responsibilities
  • Assist in setting up and configuring new computers (Windows & Mac) and other devices (phones, tablets, etc.) for employees at Collars and Crown Coverings.
  • Provide first-level support to users facing hardware or software issues.
  • Help manage and maintain inventory of IT assets (laptops, monitors, mobile devices).
  • Assist with the administration of Microsoft 365 accounts.
  • Participate in IT projects such as software rollouts or network upgrades.
Requirements
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, a related field or have equivalent self-taught knowledge.
  • Basic familiarity with Windows and macOS operating systems.
  • A strong interest in learning about networking, system administration, and corporate or small business IT.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills—you’ll be helping people with their tech problems!
  • Ability to work on-site as needed (for hardware deployment/networking tasks).
Great to have
  • Familiarity with different Linux operating systems.
  • Knowledge of shell scripting for UNIX systems and PowerShell scripting for Windows
  • Experience with MDM (Mobile Device Management) concepts or tools like Microsoft Intune, Jamf, or Apple Business Manager
  • Basic knowledge in Python for simple automation scripts
